Our Past and Present Parish Vicars
These are the people who have led our parish from the beginning. Although the church was opened in the early 1900's, the earliest photo we have at this stage in The Rev. AW Payne in 1911.
Priest In Charge Explanation
The position of Priest In Charge is typically used when a parish is without a full time Priest (Vicar), most likely because there is no one available to fill the vacant position or as in some cases, the Parish not not afford to support a full time Vicar.
It is usually a "less that full time" position - often 50%.
A priest In Charge is appointed or placed in a parish by the Diocese Bishop - not by members of the Nominations Board (made up of representatives of both Diocese and Parish) as would be for a full time position.
The Vicars Warden becomes the Bishops Warden. The Peoples Warden remains the Warden for the People.
