The Farewell Tour
These last few weeks have been jam-packed with so many rich and varied opportunities to share with the Diocesan community.
There have been Vicars Stuart and Peter to install, School Chaplains Amy and Kate to install, School Prefects at Nga Tawa, Rathkeale, St Matthew’s Collegiate and Hadlow to commission and Nga Tawa’s School Principal, and blessing the relocation of St George’s School into the life and campus of Wanganui Collegiate.
There have also been Archdeaconry Confirmations in the Wairarapa, Wanganui and the Greater Wellington area, and it has been such a joy to confirm so many people of all ages.
As well, there have been the last meetings with various Trust Boards and Councils that I have been fortunate to be associated with
Whenever I have had the opportunity to speak, my approach has been to use the occasion to encourage the people of God to re-invest their lives in the work and witness of the Gospel – to share the good news.
My retirement doesn’t signal for you to stop or even pause, but take a fresh breath before the next step on the journey.
Know that I shall continue to pray for you all in your ministries – lay and ordained, within the church and out there in the community.
“Be strong and of good courage, hold fast that which is good and love and serve the Lord with singleness of heart rejoicing in the power of His Spirit”.
+Tom
Bishop of Wellington
A farewell service for Bishop Tom is being held Sunday 4th March, 4 pm at the Cathedral in Wellington.
There is one body and one Spirit - just as you were called to the one hope when you were called - one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all, through all and in all.
